Hi! I'm Julie, your English Communication Coach
I've been helping people with their American English pronunciation skills since 2007, when I moved to the Czech Republic to teach English for a year. This experience sparked a desire to return to school and earn a graduate degree in speech and language pathology, then pursue specialized certifications in American English pronunciation and American accent training.
Qualifications and Professional Affiliations
Here are a few of my qualifications and my professional affiliations:
- I'm licensed in the state of California and nationally certified in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- I'm a certified PESL Instructor (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) and TEFL Instructor (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
- I'm also a Preferred Trainer of LDS & Associates, a leading accent reduction and corporate communication training program.
- I serve on the executive board of the Corporate Speech Pathology Network (CORSPAN), which is an international organization of Speech-Language Pathologists who specialize in communication assessment and training for businesses and professionals.
Where I've Been Featured
I’ve been featured in the book Here’s How to Do Accent Modification: A Manual for Speech-Language Pathologists, and in Vince Kotchian Test Prep's article about speech-language pathologists who own a business in accent modification.
About Me
In my free time, I love to spend time outdoors, going for a hike or camping by a lake. My husband and I have a small garden, and we grow our own fruits, vegetables, and herbs. We also have six backyard chickens and one orange tabby cat whom we love dearly.
